NEW ORLEANS SPIRIT & CARIBBEAN RHYTHMS

Bene-2_edited.jpg

As night falls over the swamps of Louisiana, the party in the Caribbean is already in full swing: in a trio of drums, trumpet and Hammond organ, Benedikt Hesse, Volker Deglmann and Gero Körner discover the Gulf of Mexico with all its musical influences and parallel worlds.

Based on New Orleans funk and Afro-Cuban jazz, the trio develops a constantly new, multi-faceted style that wanders between jazz standards and evergreens, between pulsating dance floors and trendy clubs, between cha chas, boleros and the sounds of the Big Easy.

The rare instrumental combo, their powerful, passionate sound and the blind understanding between them characterize the Benedikt Hesse Trio. Always in their toolbox: their different backgrounds, the fun of spontaneity and - of course - the catchy drum solos of their frontman.

Forgotten Treasures

BHT plays Bert Kaempfert

With their new album, BHT dedicate themselves to the giant of German easy listening, Bert Kaempfert: Hammond organ, trumpet and drums meet jazz, New Orleans spirit and Cuban rhythms.

Release in October 2024

Gero Koerner (Hammond organ), born in Cologne in 1976, is perhaps one of the most versatile pianists in the country and a passionate player of the Hammond organ. As an ambassador of sound culture, he mediates between the musical worlds with a sense of style and tact.

Volker Deglmann (trumpet), born in Karlsruhe in 1976, studied at the Manhattan School of Music, where he graduated with a Master of Music and Arts. In New York, he then played in the big band of Bobby Sanabria, one of the most important representatives of Latin jazz.

Benedikt Hesse (drums), born in 1982 in Olpe, received his training at the New York Drummers Colletive and with Johnny Vidacovich in New Orleans. Like his band colleagues, he is particularly fascinated by the Afro- and Latin American musical tradition.
