The first all-in-one-sheet method for drummers

Improve your drumming with the Drummer’s Tatami. Inspired by the clear structures of Japanese tatami surfaces, Benedikt has designed a method that gives order to every game and always provides new inspiration - for beginners, professionals and teachers.

Improve your game in 6 facets

  • Timekeeping – keep the pace

  • Application – Develop musical ideas

  • Technique – Use your body

  • Agility – Stay free and flexible

  • Mindset – discover your inner game

  • Instrumentation – Choose your instruments

The exercise package

The Drummer’s Tatami consists of two central components. On the one hand, you get lifelong access to Benedikt's online database. Here you will find a variety of video instructions and examples for your practice sessions. Secondly, this is what you get Custom-made exercise booklet (A4, 100 pages) with which you can structure and plan each of your exercises. On top of that, you will also receive a poster and the option to access all content digitally.

Constantly new learning content

As part of his personal drumming journey and the further development of the Drummer's Tatami method, Benedikt has started a challenge on Instagram: Every week he shares a new video in which he works with the method. You can then find the corresponding sheet, instructions and videos in the database, which is constantly growing.

"A tatami is a traditional Japanese floor mat. As a big fan of Japanese art and culture, I discovered the tatami pattern as the perfect template for organizing my exercise ideas."

- Benedict Hesse

About the inventor

Benedikt Hesse has been working as a drummer in international productions, large shows and various own projects for more than 20 years. He studied at the Drummers Collective in New York and worked with many of the scene's greats. From his affection for Japan and the desire to put his School of Drumming on a solid professional basis, Drummer's Tatami was born - the first all-on-one-sheet method for drummers.

Drumming is an art, but it also requires discipline. I  easily get lost in indecision about how, and where, to start a practice session. The Drummer's Tatami jumpstarts that process. I just need to decide what to work on; the method then gets me going right away.

I choose the content; it provides the roadmap, letting me concentrate on what I want to learn.
